Hi, I'm Nick Elsey, and I am a scientist working in machine learning and artificial intelligence. I earned a Ph.D. in high energy nuclear physics before joining the “dark side”, as my advisor called it :) This is a website for anything I find interesting - whether its artificial intelligence, physics, programming, skepticism, or anything else.
I also made the "Lets Learn About AI" podcast, where I tried to distill bite-sized chunks of A.I. theory, some application, and maybe some engineering into a (hopefully) manageable and engaging series on the foundations of the field. My goal is not only to teach listeners, but to teach myself - if I can’t explain a topic simply, then I may not understand it well at all. I find that when I teach something to others is when I learn the best. The podcast has been on a hiatus while I finished my dissertation and started my new career, but hopefully I will get the time to start it up again.
